The McCourty brothers are not happy with Rex Ryan over his derogatory comments about Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper.

When discussing Cooper's contract, Ryan, an ESPN analyst and former NFL head coach, said that he would not have paid the Cowboys star, calling him a “turd” and saying he does not love the game.

Ryan later apologized, but that doesn't mean everyone is ready to forget what he said.

New England Patriots cornerbacks Devin and Jason McCourty ripped Ryan on their podcast this week, with Devin telling ESPN “you don't need to air Rex Ryan” in order to get ratings.

Jason was not only displeased with Ryan, but with the ESPN network as a whole:

“To me, the crazy thing was after he said it, Get Up posted it on Twitter, ESPN retweeted it on Twitter,” Jason said. “Everybody was all-in on this ‘turd’ comment. I guess, at the same time, it’s all about entertainment — how can we get more viewers, how can we get people to click this, click that? But at what point in the game can you call somebody a turd? Whether he’s a good player or not a good player, it was just bad ball all around.”

This is hardly the first time Ryan has said something controversial on the air, and it surely won't be the last so long as he remains employed by ESPN.

Ryan is certainly free to have his opinion about a player's performance, especially considering that he coached for a long time in the NFL.

But when you start calling people turds and questioning their passion for the game, you are crossing a line that should not be crossed.
