The Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach as the heralded NFC East franchise notably elected to hire former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy earlier in the offseason.

With former Cowboys head coach and current New York Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett making the leap from Dallas to East Rutherford as being ousted by owner Jerry Jones, it appears as though free-agent wide receiver Dez Bryant wants back in.

Bryant did not play in the NFL in 2019-20, though it seems as though the former Cowboys standout not only wants to make his eventual return to the highest level but he would like to do so in Dallas.

It is no secret that the aforementioned Garrett, who served as the Cowboys head coach for nearly 10 years before not having his contract renewed by the franchise this offseason, and Bryant butted heads. With Garrett now gearing up for his first season as the Giants offensive coordinator, perhaps Jones would entertain the idea of bringing Bryant back — in a lesser role, of course.

Spending the majority of his NFL playing career as a member of the Cowboys, Bryant briefly spent some time with the New Orleans Saints a few years back after parting ways with Dallas following the 2017-18 campaign.

Unfortunately for Bryant, though, he almost immediately suffered a significant lower leg injury that disallowed him from ever playing in a regulation game as a member of the Saints. Continuing to rehab from such a setback through this season, Bryant has not appeared in a regulation NFL game in two seasons.
