Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford is expected to undergo season-ending surgery on his ailing hip, according to Nick Eatman of the Cowboys' team website.

The hip issue has bothered Crawford since the offseason. He was sidelined in Weeks 3 and 4 against the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints and returned for the Cowboys' last two games, but now, he will be out for the remainder of the year.

In four games this season, Crawford barely made an impact, logging three tackles and a sack.

Crawford, who played his collegiate football at Boise State, was originally selected by Dallas in the third round (81st pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He played in all 16 games during his rookie campaign, posting 20 tackles. Injuries then kept him out all of 2013, but in 2014, he made 15 starts, registering 35 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble.

From that point moving forward, Crawford became a mainstay along the Cowboys' defensive line and was one of their most consistent players.

While he never made a Pro Bowl, he has been productive throughout the entirety of his Dallas tenure, with his best season coming last year when he tallied 34 tackles, 5.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
