Like the rest of the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys are busy this offseason working through OTAs in preparation for the upcoming season. The Cowboys are a team with extremely high expectations every year. And, after a disappointing 2021-2022 season, those expectations are even higher this year.

During OTAs on Wednesday, Dak Prescott discussed the expectations he has for Ezekiel Elliott. Cowboys reporter Michael Gehlken tweeted the quarterback's quote.

“Nothing ever changes of my expectations of Zeke, of who he is, how he leads this team, how he approaches the game. …When Zeke is healthy, I don’t think there is a better back.”

This is a huge year for Elliott. Last year, he suffered a PCL tear at the beginning of the season and played through it. The running back rushed 237 times for 1,002 yards and ten touchdowns in the regular season. He also picked up 31 more yards in the Cowboys' postseason game.

Despite having a relatively successful season in 2021, Elliott's spot in Dallas isn't secured for the long haul. His productivity this season is extremely important because, as noted by Gehlkin, the team is going to revisit his contract afterward. Elliott will have to pull out all the stops to secure his spot and his paycheck next year.

From the way things seem to be going this offseason, Elliott is in pretty good shape. Rumor has it that the running back ran 22 mph at OTAs earlier this month. If what they say is true, Elliott should have no problem wooing the Cowboys this year.
