Ezekiel Elliott was unable to suit up for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15 against the San Francisco 49ers, but that doesn't seem to be the case in Week 16. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Elliott is expected to return on Sunday versus the Philadelphia Eagles.

Elliott has been dealing with a nagging calf injury in recent weeks that has limited in practice and games. In the last game that Elliott played back in Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bengals, Elliott only took part in 32 of 51 offensive snaps for the Cowboys.

Last week, Elliott was limited and was forced to miss practices due to his calf ailment, which led Dallas to make the decision to hold him out. As a result, Tony Pollard drew the first start of his career and he certainly made the most of it.

Pollard would rush for 69 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries, including a game-sealing rushing touchdown late in the game. He would also catch six passes for 63 yards, proving that he should be given more opportunities moving forward.

After seeing Pollard excel in his first career start, Elliott has been progressing well in his recovery from his calf injury. The former first-round pick is set to return to the Cowboys after missing his first game since the 2018 season in Week 15.

With the NFC East race still going on, Sunday's contest against the Eagles is a crucial one in the grand scheme of things. While the Cowboys still have a long road toward winning the division in the next two weeks, they'll at least have Elliott available in the backfield.
