Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is making it a point of emphasis to stay in touch with Dak Prescott after the star quarterback suffered a season-ending injury against the New York Giants this past weekend.

Elliott said Thursday he has visited Prescott every day since the signal-caller had surgery to repair a compound fracture in his ankle.

“Zeke” said Prescott is keeping his energy up, adding the rest of the team needs to find ways to support and involve Prescott going forward:

“It seems like he’s in very good spirits, little bit of pain, little bit loopy. … I think it’s important that we all surround him and show him love,” Elliott said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “I think it’s important that we continue to involve him.”

The entire Cowboys organization was devastated after Dak suffered the injury, with players holding back tears and the entire team showing support as he was carted off the field.

For his part, Prescott is indeed remaining positive. Dak insisted Thursday he will be back better and stronger than before.

Andy Dalton will replace Prescott under center, but the player who figures to see the highest uptick in usage is Elliott.

The former All-Pro running back has rushed for 364 yards through the team's first five games, though he is averaging just 4.1 yards per carry.

But Elliott is the team's offensive workhorse, and Mike McCarthy might dial up runs with more frequency so as to ease Dalton in as the starter.

In any case, “Zeke” understands the kind of person and player Prescott has been for the organization, and he wants to keep showing Dak love as the season rolls along.
