The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has entailed difficult circumstances that the league and its teams will have to face in the upcoming season. The strict implementation of health protocols and the conduction of swab tests for the NFL players kept the numbers at bay. Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot shared what the upcoming season will entail from the players:

“We all are here to play football. We’re not going to do anything dumb to jeopardize that. It’s really not about you. It’s about the guy next to you. You don’t want to get that guy sick. You don’t want to have him going home to his family and get it. It’s more of an accountability thing, just keeping each other accountable. It’s not about you. It’s about the guys around you in this locker room and their families.”

The Cowboys rushing star spoke from experience since he also contracted the coronavirus over the summer, from which he said it took a month to recover. While the players were kept safe within the confines of the Cowboys' facility, it will certainly require discipline from them once they depart from camp.

The NFL was also successful in limiting the spread of the virus over the duration of training camp. The league only recorded ten positive tests which included four players and six staffers from different teams. A total of 58,621 tests were conducted from August 21 to August 29.

Ezekiel Elliott and the rest of the Dallas Cowboys cannot afford to lose a player to the virus since a crucial season is at stake for the franchise in the upcoming season.
