Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has been practicing as though he expects to be on the field in Week 1 of the new NFL season, Todd Archer of ESPN is reporting.

With his eligibility to play beyond Week 1 against the New York Giants in question, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was on the practice field on Wednesday for the only padded practice of the week.

While Harold Henderson, the third-party arbiter of Elliott’s case, decided to uphold his six-game suspension on Tuesday, today a federal judge granted Zeke a federal injunction and approved his temporary restraining order against the NFL, meaning he could play all season.

It appeared Elliott would definitely play this Sunday because the decision wasn’t made in time for the usual deadline the NFL has always followed when it comes to suspending players. If Henderson announced his decision earlier, the NFL would’ve had no obstacles to hurdle in implementing the suspension right away.

This is still a fluid situation, so it's not completely guaranteed Elliott will play behind Week 1's matchup with the Giants.

Elliott’s backups in Darren McFadden, Rod Smith, and Alfred Morris are also all on standby to test the Giants’ defense that ranked 29th last season against the run.
