Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

While the Cowboys could officially comment on the situation due to federal and local privacy laws, Elliott's agent, Rocky Arceneaux, confirmed that his client has it but is feeling good.

It was reported on Monday that several players for both the Cowboys and Houston Texans had tested positive for COVID-19, with Rapoport later revealing that Ezekiel Elliott was among the group.

Obviously, with the NFL season only a few months away, the league is in an interesting situation when it comes to figuring out the best way to approach playing football.

NFL chief medical officer Dr. Allen Sills said a month ago that positive cases were to be expected and that the main focus was identifying those cases as quickly as they could, according to Rapoport:

A month ago, NFL chief medical officer Dr. Allen Sills said: “We fully expect that we will have positive cases that arise. … Our challenge is to identify them as quickly as possible and prevent spread to any other participants.” The teams appear to have done that.
Sills' comments make it clear that the teams will likely have more players with cases of COVID-19, and it's simply a matter of putting the proper measures in place to help those who do while preventing the spread to those who don't.

The Cowboys are set to kick off the season on Sept. 13 in a road matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
