Just imagine a world in which the two-back set routinely featured two beastly running backs instead of a fullback. (It's really a world we saw in the 1960s through 80s, but I digress).

In this world, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott and New York Giants rookie beast Saquon Barkley would make for one dynamic pairing. And in an interesting twist—considering the rivalry between the two teams—the two will be working out together this summer prior to training camp, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic.

“Saquon Barkley said he’ll train in LA before camp. Training partners will include Odell, Sterling Shepard and Ezekiel Elliott.”

Barkley won't be the only Giant. In fact, Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard will accompany the new rookie beast in Los Angeles with the Cowboys young buck.

Pertaining to new-aged NFL football and its superstars, everything's on the table. Of course, at times, there is surefire animosity, but normally, that sort of stuff remains on-the-field only. When these guys are off the field, they're on the same squad—part of the same fraternity.

Now, specifically, as it pertains to Elliott and Barkley, could you imagine that duo in the backfield simultaneously?

First of all, it'd have to be a west coast offense. Instead of an eye formation (or weak eye or strong eye), the two-back system would feature a split, near or far. Both guys can run it up inside the tackle as well as taking it past the C-gap along the edge.

It'd be one scary proposition for NFL defenses.
