Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has a chance to secure a rushing title in the 2018 NFL season finale. However, it appears head coach Jason Garrett will not use that to determine his workload on Sunday.

Elliott currently leads the NFL with 1,434 rushing yards this season. According to Schuyler Dixon of the Associated Press, Garrett will not let that have an outcome on the Cowboys offensive approach:

“We don’t talk very much about individual statistics for any of our players,” Garrett said. “What we’re trying to do is prepare the right way and play the right way each week to make our team the best it could be. And that’s really where our sole focus is.”

Garrett's comments hardly come as any surprise. The Cowboys have much bigger aspirations this season than making sure Elliots secures his second rushing title in three years. However, there is no denying the star back would love to have the distinction.

Fortunately, Elliott has built up a comfortable lead going into the season finale. He currently leads Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley by 183 yards and New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley by 236 yards. However, it does not appear as though Gurley will suit up this Sunday as he nurses a knee injury. All Dallas has to do is make sure that Barkley does not put up one of the greatest single-game performances in history and Elliott should be good.

Regardless, there is no question that the Cowboys have high expectations going into the playoffs. They will need to make sure that they make it to the postseason as healthy as possible. Be that as it may, it is safe to assume that Elliott will be the NFL's rushing leader once again.
