The normally free-spending Dallas Cowboys have had a relatively quiet offseason overall, but they did make one big move in signing former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb.

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is excited about adding Cobb to the aerial attack, noting how Cobb hurt Dallas during his days with the Packers.

“He’s so capable of doing so many different things,” Garrett said, according to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “We got an up close and personal view of him every time we played Green Bay. You go into these games and you look at a guy like this like, ‘God damn, look at him again. They’re handing it to him, they’re throwing it to him, he’s in the slot, he’s outside. He makes these plays at critical moments.’ We’ve been trying to guard him for a long time. To have him be able to come in and be as versatile as we think he can be, I think he’s going to be a big lift for our offense.”

Cobb is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played just nine games due to concussions, hauling in 38 receptions for 383 yards and a couple of touchdowns in one of the least productive seasons of his career.

The 28-year-old has actually been on a steady decline for several years now, as he has not even come close to matching his Pro Bowl season back in 2014 when he caught 91 passes for 1,287 yards and 12 scores.

Cobb, who played his collegiate football at the University of Kentucky, was originally selected by Green Bay in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
