Jason Witten returns to the Dallas Cowboys' locker room 10 months after announcing his retirement and working on the broadcast booth for ESPN's Monday Night Football coverage.

The Cowboys didn't have the strongest need at tight end after the emergence of Blake Jarwin late in the 2018 season. They also have very high expectations for 2018 fourth-round pick Dalton Schultz.

But, despite both of their promising potential, they weren't exactly the most consistent players last season. The return of Witten will give both of their young tight ends a mentor, as he is one of the best players in NFL history to ever play the position.

Witten started 179 straight games starting from the end of the 2006 season all the way to 2017 when he decided to walk away from football.

In his fifteen years in the NFL, he has caught 1,152 passes for 12,448 yards, and 68 touchdowns. He's currently fourth on the all-time leaders in catches in a career, trailing Jerry Rice, Tony Gonzalez, and Larry Fitzgerald. He's also 21st on the all-time list for receiving yards.

His valuable experience and his production on the field will help the Dallas a lot. The Cowboys started the season 3-5 before winning seven of the last eight games of the 2018 regular season to win the NFC East.

Witten signed a one-year $5 million deal to return to the Cowboys. Now, Dak Prescott will have Witten along with Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and Jarwin. That's a lot of talent on their offense, making the Cowboys a favorite to win the NFC East title in 2019.
