Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten is set to be a free agent this offseason, but he has yet to even determine if he is going to play in 2020.

During an interview with Rob Maaddi of The Associated Press, Witten said that he is “leaning toward playing” and that he is being very “diligent” in the process.

Witten added that he still has a lot of time to make his decision.

As far as returning to the Cowboys? Witten said that that would be the ideal situation, but that “a lot of changes happen in the league, so you never know.”

After taking a year off from football in 2018, Witten returned this season and played in every game, catching 63 passes for 529 yards and four touchdowns.

The 37-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Tennessee, was originally selected by Dallas in the third round (69th pick overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft.

It didn't take long for Witten to stamp his name among the best tight ends in the league, as he made the Pro Bowl as soon as his second season after hauling in 87 receptions for 980 yards and six scores.

That represented the first of seven straight Pro Bowl appearances for Witten, a stretch that also included a pair of First-Team All-Pro selections.

Overall, Witten has made 11 Pro Bowls throughout his illustrious NFL career, putting together four 1,000-yard campaigns.

He has spent his entire tenure with the Cowboys.

Dallas went just 8-8 this season, missing the playoffs in spite of Super Bowl aspirations.
