Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith is having himself quite the season. It's safe to assume prior to the start of the season, not many imagined the Cowboys would find the success they have had to this point.

Dallas' defense has been fast and stout on the defensive side of the ball considering they've been amongst the league's worst in recent years. And Smith believes that as good as they've been, they can get even better.

“The sky is the limit,” Smith said per Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Star-Telegram. “With me being the leader of the defense, I’ve gotta make sure everybody’s right. So we’re looking forward to getting even more talented guys back to dominate.”

Smith has helped a young linebacker core with Sean Lee injured once again. Lee's position is being currently filled by rookie  Leighton Vander Esch and the rookie has been playing at an elite level in Lee's absence.

Smith added that the unit needs to continue playing at an elite level in every, as consistency is the “mark of greatness.”

Smith has lived up to expectations of being a fast, playmaking linebacker. The former Notre Dame standout slid in the draft after suffering a knee injury prior to the NFL draft, but the Cowboys may have struck gold with Smith.

Smith would have presumably gone in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft, but it's safe to say the Cowboys had a good draft as they took running back Ezekiel Elliott that same year. Smith has an incredibly bright future pending his days of injuries are behind him.
