The Dallas Cowboys’ season ended in disappointment, as perhaps one of their most title-ready teams in years saw their season end sooner than they’d like. Perhaps no one was more disappointed than owner Jerry Jones, who had made the goal even more clear before the season started. When a team underachieves like this, it’s natural to expect questions surrounding the head coach and the quarterback. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy seems to be safe- for now– but what about Dak Prescott? During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jones spoke about Prescott and gave a strong endorsement despite the team’s disappointing effort, via NBC Sports.
“He has shown every time he’s ever gotten in a position, he’s shown he’s a winner in football. He has shown that every time he’s ever had a chance to. As you well know, especially at that point, it’s hard to pinpoint ‘the’ skill that makes it happen. It’s hard to pinpoint that. But Dak Prescott has the skill to make it happen.”
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes that Dak Prescott is “a winner.” In a strong endorsement, Jones believes that the signal-caller has shown that every time he’s had a chance to.
While the playoff success might not be there yet, Jones might have a point with his Prescott endorsement. The Cowboys have won double-digit games three times since naming Prescott the starter in 2016- and the Mississippi State product just had perhaps the best season of his Cowboys’ career coming off of a devastating injury.
The Cowboys might have had a disappointing end to the season, but they’d be hard-pressed to find someone better to lead their team to the promised land than Dak Prescott. As Jerry Jones said, Prescott “has the skill to make it happen.”
