The Dallas Cowboys head coaching position has been in the headlines lately despite the team holding a lead in the NFC East standings.

With Cowboys owner Jerry Jones recently saying that he is ‘looking for reasons to keep' current head coach Jason Garrett, there has been an extra spotlight placed on the possibility of the team finding a replacement.

“I am looking for reasons. I’m looking for reasons to keep him,” Jones said. “It’s merited here. It’s hard to get an effective coach and get it locked in with all you have to retool and redo. I’m comfortable. We have established some security apart from the won-loss. He represents the organization well on and off the field. You don’t have to wake up in the morning reading about it.”

Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer recently make public comments to express on FS1's “The Herd” that he ‘absolutely' would consider taking the Cowboys coaching job.

“Pure speculation because I know him, but I don’t know him like that, but that’s the one [job],” Meyer said. “That’s New York Yankees, that’s the Dallas Cowboys. That’s the one. Great city. They got Dak Prescott, Zeke Elliott. You got a loaded team. And I can’t speak for him obviously, I hate to even speculate because I don’t know him, that’s really not fair, but to me, that’s the one job in professional football that you say, ‘I got to go do that.’”

The compliments that Meyer made about how great of an opportunity it is to be the head coach of the Cowboys caught the attention of owner Jerry Jones.

The way that the rest of the season plays out will likely determine Garrett's future with the Cowboys. Ending a three-game losing streak was a step in the right direction, but his team will need to continue to win games.
