The Dallas Cowboys endured a harsh defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers. They also found themselves with more than a slap to the wrist after head coach Jason Garrett was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct.

However, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was supportive of his head coach as he fired a quip towards referee Ron Torbert after the loss.

“Oh, I hope the little darlin’ didn’t hear something he hadn’t heard before,” Jones said when reporters told him why Torbert said Garrett was penalized. “We should all have stopped the wheel over there if he got [upset] over abusive language.”

Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk reported what the outspoken owner had to say about the situation between Torbert and Garrett. He explained why he still supports his head coach in his radio show:

“I’m all for realizing that we’re on television and realize that there’s young people and impressionable people listening,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. “But in general, if anybody thinks that’s a Marquess of Queensberry etiquette going out there on that football field, they haven’t been on a football field, especially in pro football. That’s pretty thin-skinned.”

Torbert detailed the penalty that Garrett got but didn't divulge what was said by the ten-year Cowboys HC:

“All I can tell you is there was abusive language toward an official,” Torbert said to a pool reporter. “That's all I'm prepared to tell you.”

The Garrett penalty puts officiating into focus once again, and Cowboys fans will argue that the penalty on their head coach was uncalled for. However, what's done is done. Garrett and the Cowboys will have to try to recoup their losses against the New York Jets and the Philadelphia Eagles before their bye week.
