The Dallas Cowboys suffered a pivotal loss on Sunday night, falling to the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 28-24.

The defeat dropped the Cowboys to 5-4 on the year, and while they currently own the tiebreaker over the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East, the two clubs now own the same record.

After the loss to the Vikings, Dallas owner Jerry Jones said that his team simply couldn't match Minnesota's physicality:

“I want to give Minnesota, Mike Zimmer and their organization a lot of credit,” Jones said, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “They came out here tonight and they physically took it to us. We had a difficult time getting them off the field in terms of their offense, but to our credit, I was really impressed with how we came back in there and got back to where we could win a ball game that was really in doubt. It was really disappointing. I’m disappointed for these guys in here and disappointed for our coaches, but I can’t say enough about how Zimmer coached them up.”

Jones noted how the Vikings completely shut down Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys' rushing attack, as Elliott logged just 47 yards on 20 carries.

Of course, many will likely read into how much Jones was praising Zimmer and see it as a subtle jab at Jason Garrett, who just about everyone feels is on the hot seat right now.

While Jones has done nothing but support Garrett publicly, you have to wonder what was going through his mind on Sunday evening seeing as how he clearly felt that the Vikings outcoached the Cowboys.

Dallas will head on the road to take on the Detroit Lions next weekend.
