The NFL has finally come to decision on the Ezekiel Elliott situation. The league has suspended the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year for the first six games of the 2017 NFL season and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones isn't happy about the outcome.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jones, who said publicly that he thought Elliott would not be suspended by the league, is predictably furious about the NFL's decision.

Last year, the Cowboys made a bold move to draft a running back with the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Dallas selected Elliott out of Ohio State and never looked back with the former Buckeyes star dominating the competition on a weekly basis.

In 15 games for the Cowboys, Elliott rushed for an NFL-best 1,631 yards and 15 touchdowns. The rising star beat out his teammate Dak Prescott for top rookie honors and many believe he could be the best back in the league in the near future.

So with Elliott already being one of the best backs in the league and one of the main reasons for the team's success last season, it comes as no surprise that Jones would be as upset as he appears to be.

Fortunately for Dallas, the team has some formidable backups at the running back position that may be able to shoulder the load for the first six weeks of the season. Veteran Darren McFadden will likely get the call to assume the starting role in the backfield with Alfred Morris also expected to see a bump in carries in Dallas.
