Another week, another chapter in the ongoing battle between the NFL and Dallas Cowboys superstar running back Ezekiel Elliott. Last year's First-Team All-Pro has been locked in one court appeal after another for the entire 2017 NFL season thus far. Thanks to that, it is another week of more reports stating there's a rift between Jerry Jones and Roger Goodell.

Needless to say, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has publicly voiced his displeasure with how NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has handled his running back's case. According to Clarence E. Hill, Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Jones is now saying Goodell lied about whether or not Elliot would be suspended:

Jones believes he was lied to by Goodell who told him Elliott, who was never charged or arrested in the case, would face no suspension and considers it an unforgivable breach of trust, according to a source.

That is obviously a huge accusation for Jerry Jones to make. Knowing what we know now, about Jones wanting Goodell's contract extension process halted, this could be a PR move by the Dallas owner to start building a case against the NFL commissioner.

Not directly as a result, as mentioned, Jones has even threatened to block Goodell's plans for an extension. Although it may seem like a bit of a reach, the long-time showrunner of ‘America's Team' certainly carries a heavy influence amongst the other 32 owners.

It is said that the result of Elliott's ruling likely hinges on which side would suffer the most given the recent Collective Bargaining Agreement. If it winds up in the NFL's favor, Jones is likely to use every resource he can to make sure Goodell's tenure comes to an abrupt end.
