Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is hoping for a far better result from the team in 2022 after a disappointing playoff exit last season. Part of taking the next steps toward Super Bowl contention will be nailing their draft picks. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Jones was asked about who the main decision-maker is in the Cowboys' draft room. Rather than reveal his hand, Jones took a jab at his son Stephen Jones over his selection of Taco Charlton, via Jon Machota.

It was a rather savage shot at Charlton from Jones, effectively calling the Cowboys' 28th overall pick in 2017 an utter failure. Still, it's not far from the truth. Charlton lasted just two seasons in Dallas, featuring in 27 games and starting just 7. Despite the lofty expectations surrounding the Michigan product, the defensive end managed just 4.0 sacks in his career with the Cowboys, alongside 46 tackles, and 11 QB hits.

Rather than delve into who would be pulling the strings in 2022, Jones threw his own son under the bus in regards to the highly unpopular selection of Charlton back in 2017. We're sure Jerry will be quick to take credit for the Micah Parsons selection, however, as he turned out to be one of the biggest steals in the 2021 NFL Draft, developing into a star throughout his rookie season.

We hope for Charlton's sake that the defensive lineman doesn't catch word of Jones' ruthless comments. The 27-year-old is still vying to make a name for himself in the league and dispel the narrative that he was a major draft bust for the Cowboys.

Since leaving Dallas, Charlton has played for the Dolphins, Chiefs, and Steelers, all on one-year deals. He's now headed to New Orleans where he'll look to earn playing time in the trenches for the Saints.
