Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made it clear many times that Dak Prescott was going to be the teams quarterback for many years to come and he reassured those beliefs on Monday.

Jones appeared on the Rich Eisen show on Monday and according to Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News, he said that they are sold on Dak being the long term option.

“We're sold on Dak and we do want to have him for the long term. We think he's worthy of investing in for the long term. … We see real upside in Dak. You don't have it all yet.”

The next big question for the two sides is how much will the contract be for, and when will the two sides get a deal done. Stephen Jones said back in April that the team wanted to make sure the contract was fair.

“He certainly deserves to be paid fairly,” Jones said via the Dallas Daily News. “He's a fourth-round pick out of Mississippi State, as we all know. He's never made a lot of money, per se, with his contract. Certainly deserves to be paid and be paid fairly.”

Dak Prescott is entering the final year of his contract and is set to make a little more than $2 million in base salary this year. Prescott still has some improving to do in the NFL but he is a good quarterback and has led the Cowboys to at least a .500 mark in each of the last three years that he has been the starting quarterback.
