Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has weighed in on the Denver Broncos' recent decision to start Kendall Hinton, a practice squad wide receiver, as an emergency quarterback against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. According to the 78-year-old billionaire, he believes the Cowboys were placed in a similar situation earlier in the season when they were forced to start rookie Ben DiNucci.

Much has been made about how the Broncos were forced into having to thrust Hinton into a starting role due to the fact that literally all their quarterbacks were unavailable against the Saints. In the mind of Jones, however, this does not appear to be too much of a big deal:

“I don’t know that Denver had any more of a challenge than we’ve had with DiNucci, or with the young QBs we’ve had,” Jones said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic.

For what it's worth, DiNucci went for 21-of-40 of his passes for 180 yards in his spot start in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles. The seventh-round rookie lost two fumbles, with one of his sacks resulting in a returned touchdown. Dallas was forced to start DiNucci against Philly after starting QB Andy Dalton was placed in the league's concussion protocol. The Eagles defeated the Cowboys, 23-9, and for his part, DiNucci has yet to take the field since.

As for Hinton of the Broncos, the former Wake Forest QB turned wide receiver logged 1-of-9 passes for 13 yards and two interceptions, as Denver were pummeled by the Saints, 31-3.

While Jones may have a point, it is clear that Hinton had a far worse outing than DiNucci, all things considered.
