The Dallas Cowboys will not be heading to the playoffs after a disappointing regular season effort. Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is officially no longer under contract with the NFC East franchise. Team owner Jerry Jones still has a decision to make regarding his leader on the sideline.

However, Jerry Jones has yet to make a formal announcement regarding Garrett's future status with the team. One thing is for sure, though, as Garrett is not currently the head coach of the Cowboys as Dallas would need to sign him to an entirely new contract this offseason.

Jerry Jones and the Cowboys front office will have more than a few important decisions to make this offseason while Garrett's fate in Dallas has all but been sealed at this point. While Garrett is no longer under contract with the franchise, neither is Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who was lobbying for a new deal all season long.

“I think it's the last game on mine, as well,” Prescott recently said of Garrett's future with the Cowboys, via CBS Sports. “I'll be damned if I speak on anybody else's future or their place.”

As a result of the Cowboys' struggles all year long, and down the final stretch of the 2019 regular season, the rival Philadelphia Eagles snuck into the postseason as the NFC East champions. Dallas notably lost to Philadelphia in Week 16 to put its playoff destiny in the hands of the Eagles for Week 17. Jerry Jones had to know his team was in trouble after the loss to the Eagles.
