Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has been on the hot seat for quite some time now. Fortunately, the Cowboys already seem to have a contingency in-house with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Moore received a promotion after serving as quarterbacks coach last season. Former Tampa Bay buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik said during an appearance on Speak For Yourself that Moore could potentially get another one next season.

“Jerry Jones is looking at Kellen Moore and saying that's our next head coach for the Dallas Cowboys if Jason Garrett doesn't win enough games.”

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Garrett's future in Dallas. It is no secret that they have underwhelmed by the high standards for nearly the past decade. Team owner Jerry Jones could very well be looking for a viable replacement.

Jones has attempted to convey his belief in Garrett on multiple occasions. However, his decision not to extend his contract this offseason suggests that this will be a deciding year for the veteran coach. As a result, the rise of Moore on the coaching staff has been brought to the forefront.

The NFL is currently in the midst of finding a coach with a similar approach to that of Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay. This has led to multiple NFL teams taking a chance on young, offensive-minded candidates. Of course, Moore certainly fits this prototype as a youthful coach that is still fresh off his playing days as an NFL quarterback. Garrett will need to put together an impressive outing in order to secure his future in Dallas.
