The Dallas Cowboys are coming off another disappointing loss after coming up short against the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 14. It appears kicker Brett Maher may have played his last game in Dallas.

Maher has been one of the more notable sore spots amidst their recent losing streak. Head coach Jason Garrett indicated that he may have blown his last opportunity, via Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News:

“Obviously, we have to do a close evaluation of it. … We brought three kickers in earlier in the week. We decided to give Brett an opportunity this week. It didn't work out. So we have to take a real close, hard look at that.”

The looming decision to replace Maher should hardly come as any surprise. Although he has endured his fair share of struggles throughout the course of the 2019 NFL season, they were extremely prevalent during this three-game skid.

Maher missed both of his field-goal attempts in the 26-15 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving Day. Although the Cowboys opted to give him a chance to redeem himself, he instead responded by missing a 42-yarder versus the Bears. His 10 missed field goals are more than any other kicker has racked up in a single season over the last four years.

Of course, the struggles for Dallas transcend beyond the special teams. Despite their strong numbers, the offense has failed to generate any kind of rhythm as of late. Meanwhile, the defense allowed quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to look like a bonafide Pro Bowler with three touchdowns through the air and one on the ground.
