Dallas Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch claims he is completely healed from his neck surgery.

After the 2019 season, Vander Esch underwent neck surgery and the hope was he would be ready for some sort of work in during the offseason. With the COVID-19 pandemic, there hasn't been any in-person contact with the team, but Vander Esch claims he is doing wonderful.

Vander Esch recently appeared on The ‘Boys & Girl Podcast and said he is currently training without any restrictions as he gets ready for the 2020 season with the Cowboys:

“I am doing wonderful,” Vander Esch said. “I feel as good now as I ever have, before I even got hurt. I mean, I’m ready to roll. I’ve been training full-go for a couple of months now, so it’s not holding me back whatsoever. I feel, like I said, just as good as I ever have. I’m just excited to play football at this point and get back on the field. Whenever they give us the green light to go, we’ll be ready.”

Vander Esch is an anchor on the defense, so it's good news for the Cowboys that at all signs point towards him being ready for training camp and the 2020 season.

The Cowboys re-signed Sean Lee this offseason as depth, but the hope is that all he will be needed for. Last season, Vander Esch didn't have any interceptions, but he did have 72 sacks and 0.5 sacks.

If the Cowboys want the defense to have success this season, they Vander Esch to be an anchor.
