Dallas Cowboys rookie linebacker Micah Parsons was hoping to play a huge role in his first career playoff game, but an early injury may prevent him from doing so. During the first quarter of the Cowboys' Wild Card matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, Parsons appeared to suffer a head injury while attempting to get after Jimmy Garoppolo. The star rookie could be seen walking off the field and heading into the medical tent. Per Jon Machota, the Cowboys are evaluating Parsons for a possible concussion.

Parsons attempted to make a play on Garoppolo but wasn't successful. Instead, he ended up colliding head-to-head with a 49ers offensive lineman, resulting in the Cowboys' rookie going down with the head injury.

Obviously, this is a major concern for the Cowboys, who have one of the NFL's best defenses, when Parsons is on the field. The former Penn State product has recorded 84 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 30 QB hits, and 13.0 sacks in 2021, establishing himself as one of the best linebackers in football. His loss would have been a significant blow for the Cowboys, especially having had fallen into an early 10-0 deficit.

It's worth noting that Parsons had been dealing with COVID-19, which caused him to miss the Cowboys' Week 18 matchup. The rookie linebacker mentioned he was still overcoming the symptoms of the virus, though it's unclear if that's related to him being on the sideline.

Parsons eventually returned to the field before the first quarter concluded, though his health for the remainder of the game will certainly be something for Cowboys fans to monitor.
