Michael Irvin recently made headlines for his comments on the Dallas Cowboys and how they could sign Tom Brady and trade Dak Prescott. After walking back his comments, Irvin says replacing Prescott with Brady would be a mistake.

“I am blown away with this,” Irvin told Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

“I said what somebody said. That should no way be taken as those are my thoughts on what should happen,” Irvin said. “Ain’t no way in world that should happen. That would be insane. Are you kidding me? Are you out of your mind? It’s over for Tom.”

This entire situation took off when Irvin went on the WEEI Sports Radio Network and exclaimed that ‘significant people' believed that the Cowboys could sign Brady in free agency. The Hall of Fame receiver has since clarified that his source is not affiliated with the Cowboys.

Following the chaos that ensued on social media, Michael Irvin shares the same sentiment as most people. Replacing a 25-year-old Prescott with a 42-year-old Brady makes little to no sense. However, it is naive to say that “it's over for Tom”.

Even though he'll be 43-years-old in August, Tom Brady still has something left in the tank. As for Prescott, he could just be scratching the surface of his potential as a starting quarterback in the NFL.

In 2019, Dak Prescott put together the best year of his career as he threw for 4,902 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. The next step for Prescott and the Cowboys is to get a long-term deal in place. However, with the deadline for franchise tags being March 10th, both sides are working against the clock.
