Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy didn't miss the chance to poke fun at his counterpart Andy Reid, as the Kansas City Chiefs coach was bombarded with questions and laughs about his face shield.

Reid visibly fogged the shield with his breath as the Chiefs smashed the Houston Texans 34-20 in the season-opener — and McCarthy just had to take a stab:

“Well Andy is definitely is a trend setter,” said McCarthy, according to Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News. “But I don’t think I'll be following suit there I'm going to stick with the mask.”

The tweets and memes trolling the charismatic coach were endless. It looks tough enough to wear the face shield as a piece of armor to go in conjunction with the hat and headset. But having blurred vision while at it seems like something no coach wants a part of.

Coaches will have to adapt to wearing a mask and still getting in touch with their quarterback, but this should serve as a lesson for the rest of the NFL — face shields are not the answer.

Luckily for Andy Reid, he didn't need to see much as Patrick Mahomes and Clyde Edwards-Helaire made it easy to cruise through all 60 minutes of action.

“I'm proud of our players but I'm also proud of our fans. They came out there. They were loud,” said Reid, who claimed not to notice some the boos from fans during a pregame moment of unity involving both teams. “Obviously, our players, both sides of the ball and special teams , I thought they were solid,” Reid continued. “For the first game there were some good things that were done, some great individual performances.”

Next time we see Andy Reid, it will likely be without his goofy face shield to elude further ridicule.
