The Dallas Cowboys boasted one of the best linebacker duos in the league last with the combination of Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch. It appears the former could be ready to join his teammate in the Pro Bowl discussions for the 2019 NFL season.

Smith enjoyed a bit of a breakout year in 2018 Marc Sessler of NFL.com predicts he is poised to make his first career Pro Bowl next season.

Let's remember that marvelous rookie Leighton Vander Esch was initially snubbed by voters before landing in the Pro Bowl as an alternate. His linebacking partner in crime could be next. Smith recorded the top pass-rush win percentage (27.8) and second-best pass-rush grade (84.8) at his position, per Pro Football Focus. Two Cowboys ‘backers are not too many for this year's all-star festivities.

The prospect of Smith making his first Pro Bowl is certainly not too far-fetched. He had been among the notable snubs from last year's festivities after finishing the 2018 campaign with 121 tackles, 4.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles. It is safe to say that he will be looking to make a statement in 2019.

Smith has certainly come a long way since suffering a devastating knee injury in college that forced him to sit out his entire rookie campaign. Many questioned whether or not he would be able to bounce back. Fortunately, he has proven to be just as explosive as he was before the injury and the Cowboys are now reaping the benefits of him dropping to the second round. Smith will have an opportunity to put a stamp on his comeback with a potential Pro Bowl nod next season.
