The Dallas Cowboys are now 3-2 on the season after beginning the 2019 campaign at 3-0. However, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott remains in line to encounter a serious payday sometime in the very near future. The veteran signal caller continues to be one of the few Dallas players not to get paid this time around. Does the Kirk Cousins saga in Minnesota relate to this? People in the NFL have opinions.

Not everyone in the league is 100 percent sold on handing out a huge contract to a soon-to-be free agent quarterback that hasn't won in the postseason just yet.

“Kirk Cousins is no longer Kirk Cousins, he is Kirk Cousins’ contract,” a NFL executive from around the league recently told Mike Sando of The Athletic. “It lends itself to constant analysis and barbs. It’s a warning to Dak as much as it is to other teams.”

Cousins infamously left the Washington Redskins en route to joining the Minnesota Vikings ahead of last season. Upon doing so after spending his entire NFL career as a member of the Redskins, Cousins garnered a three-year, $84 million from the Vikings. Of course, Cousins did not lead the Vikings back to the playoffs despite putting up some gaudy numbers in his first season in Minnesota.

While Prescott appears to be the team's quarterback of the future, the only thing missing in Dallas is a new contract. While it appears as though Prescott will get paid sooner rather than later, perhaps the Cowboys will continue to wait until later in the season to dish out the cash.
