Even as critics view the Dallas Cowboys’ upcoming NFC wild-card playoff clash with the San Francisco 49ers as a possible trap game for them, quarterback Dak Prescott is much confident in his team heading into the contest.

In speaking during a press conference on Thursday, Prescott answered on whether this playoff duel with the 49ers could be considered a “bad matchup” for Dallas. As expected, the veteran quarterback sure is not interested in engaging in such talk ahead of the game.

“We don’t care what people believe about us outside these walls, whether they think it’s good or not,” Prescott said. “We’re excited for the matchup.

“It’s gonna be a dog fight. It’s gonna be a war. We’re exactly up for that.”

Prescott sure has been hearing about the skeptics against him and the Cowboys for much of the campaign. At the least, he has been using it all as motivation, which was the case during the middle of the season when there was much talk about his notable slump.

There will be plenty of X-factors to watch in this installment of the historic Cowboys and 49ers rivalry, including on how Prescott will perform against San Francisco’s pass defense that finished regular season play ranking fifth in passing yards allowed per game with a 206.5 average.

In the big picture, the Cowboys are aiming to pull off a run to the NFC Championship game for the first time since the 1995 campaign.
