The Dallas Cowboys' offseason will be a very busy one. After bouncing back and winning the NFC East, they suffered an embarrassing loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round. Now, they have 21 unrestricted free agents to deal with, one of which is defensive end Randy Gregory.

In 12 games for Dallas, the 29-year-old Gregory recorded 17 quarterback hits, six sacks, three forced fumbles and his first career interception. He missed four games this season and was placed on the injured reserve in November due to a calf injury. He was activated a month later and played the rest of the season. However, he has been dealing with a knee issue that hampered him all season long.

According to ESPN's Todd Archer, Gregory will undergo surgery on his knee and should be good to go this offseason.

The Cowboys' defense flashed a lot of potential and had a decent outing against the 49ers, forcing them to kick multiple 50-yard field goals and shutting them out in the fourth quarter. Keeping the unit together is in Dallas' best interest, especially as young stars Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs continue to impress.

Gregory has been with the Cowboys since 2015 when they selected him in the second round of the draft. Although he is not an irreplaceable part of the defense, it would make sense for Dallas to bring him back. Keeping this core intact will likely be a challenge. One of their better defensive players, even coming off of surgery, should be a priority.
