In his first season back into the fold, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory has seen his role progressively increase with each passing game week.

However, Gregory has suffered a potential step back as he has undergone arthroscopic knee surgery that he is hoping that he won't miss any playing time when the team takes the field again for Monday Night Football on Nov. 5 against the Tennessee Titans, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee Tuesday, Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News reports. The team hopes the surgery will help with his knee issue, which has had him on the injury report of late.

The Cowboys are hopeful Gregory won’t miss any time. They are on their off week this week and don’t play again until Nov. 5 on Monday Night Football.

Gregory has increasingly become a bigger contributor to the defensive front with 10 total tackles, a sack, and a stuff. His play has provided more depth to the defensive line that has been among the most productive in the league that currently ranking tied for eighth with 19 total sacks. This has seen 11 different players record sacks this season.

The 25-year-old will have around two weeks to recover from the operation that typically takes a few weeks to return to the field. The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing loss to the Washington Redskins that saw them fall short in the final seconds of the fourth quarter on a missed field goals.

It has pushed them under the .500 mark through the first seven games played. Dallas is currently sitting two games behind the Redskins for the division lead. If Gregory is able to make a return from the injury in the coming weeks, he could be a factor on the defensive line to helping their playoff push.
