The Dallas Cowboys were unable to follow up their impressive 2016 campaign with a playoff berth in 2017. Ezekiel Elliott eventually served his six-game suspension, and the team couldn't stay ahead of the curve without arguably their best player on the field for the majority of the season.

With Elliott and Dak Prescott leading the way next season, Cowboys legend Roger Staubach has high hopes for the team he led to two Super Bowl titles. Staubach sees his former team winning it all next season, via Kate Hairopoulos of The Dallas Morning News.

“I want to make a statement right now,” the Cowboys legend offered, unsolicited, “the Dallas Cowboys are going to win the Super Bowl next year.”

Although this is a bold prediction by the 75-year-old Hall of Famer, the Cowboys do have one of the more talented teams in the league that may only get better with each passing year. Prescott and Elliott could ultimately turn into one of the best quarterback-running back duos in the league, and as long as Jerry Jones continues to add talent around them, the sky is the limit in Dallas.

The real question for the Cowboys heading into the NFL offseason is what they'll do with the receiving corps. The team signed Terrance Williams to a four-year deal back in March and will have a decision to make on both star wideout Dez Bryant and up-and-comer Brice Butler in the coming months.

Butler has indicated that he wants to be a starter in Dallas or he'll be heading elsewhere in free agency. Bryant, however, is set to make $12.5 million next season and is unwilling to take a pay cut meaning the team could part ways with him if they don't want to pay a premium to keep the wide receiver that hasn't exactly lived up to expectations.

The Cowboys are expected to be a force to be reckoned next season as currently constructed, but changes will be made that will either help or hurt their chances of living up to Staubach's bold statement.
