Sean Lee will be back for at least one more season. The longtime Dallas Cowboys linebacker might not be playing quite the same role that he used to, but he's gearing up for another run in Dallas in 2019.

The Cowboys have added a lot of young talent at linebacker the past few seasons in Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch, but Lee doesn't feel threatened. Instead, Lee is embracing playing with the youngsters, saying it's “a dream come true to play with two young guys who love football,” per David Moore of Dallas News.

“All-Pro players who played unbelievable last year and really willed our team from a tough record early in the season, to snap back and get into the playoffs is really because of those guys, how well they played and the whole group, the whole defense.”

Lee played in only seven games last year due to injuries, and he's been unable to stay healthy the past couple of seasons. Lee is still being listed as a starter on the depth chart, but it's widely believed his playing time is going to take a step back this season. Nevertheless, Lee is about as good as it gets when it comes to being a veteran mentor.

When he's been injured the last two seasons, he's operated as a de facto coach on the sidelines, and the team surely loves having him around for Smith and Vander Esch's development. If he's healthy, Lee could still end up having a good season as a player too.

The Cowboys' defense took a huge step forward last year, and it'll be interesting to see whether or not they can build on that in 2019. Whatever happens, it doesn't sound like Lee will be at all bitter about having to share the spotlight.
