The Dallas Cowboys have the NFL's best fan base, according to a recent study conducted at Emory University. With Jay Busbee of Yahoo! Sports shedding some additional light on the annual study, the Cowboys have come in at the top of the list with Emory University's Goizueta School of Business formally releasing the latest version of its NFL Fandom Report this week.

“Emory University’s Goizueta School of Business has released its latest NFL Fandom Report, ranking the relative fan strengths of the 32 NFL franchises, and once again, the Cowboys lead the pack,” writes the aforementioned Busbee. “Right behind them: the Patriots, Eagles, Giants and Steelers. Down at the bottom of the list: the Bengals, the Jaguars, the Titans, the Chiefs (hang on, Chiefs fans, you’ll get your chance) and the Rams.”

With the study breaking down each franchise's fan base using three criteria, Emory University specifically utilizes “Fan Equity, Social Equity and Road Equity.”

“The goal of the study is to use statistical analysis to determine the NFL’s ‘best' fans, judged on the entirety of the fanbase,” Busbee added in his report. “In other words: every team has its core of religiously devoted, ride-or-die fans; the teams at the top of the list simply have many, many more.”

“Dr. Lewis judges fan bases on three criteria: Fan Equity, Social Equity and Road Equity.”

Although the Cowboys are still technically referred to as “America's Team,” there are plenty of fan bases that wouldn't have been surprising choices to top such a list.
