The Dallas Cowboys are often the talk of the town, even when the once heralded NFC East franchise has already been eliminated from Super Bowl contention. This time, it is Cowboys Executive Vice President, CEO and Director of Player Personnel Stephen Jones who is making headlines — well, sort of.

With the Cowboys previously being ousted from this year's postseason at the hands of the eventual NFC Champion Los Angeles Rams, Jones and company were forced to watch the NFC title game take place in New Orleans with the Rams taking on the Saints. With the incredibly entertaining and highly controversial bout ultimately requiring overtime to hash out, Jones has since chimed in regarding the league's overtime rules.

“They’ll be looked at again this year after what we saw here,” Jones said from the Senior Bowl on Tuesday, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “We’ll give this, like we do everything, a very extensive going over. I know you all know this, but the competition probably meets more than any committee in the NFL in terms of work that goes into looking at the rules.”

Adding fuel to the fire, this year's AFC Championship Game between the Super Bowl-bound New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs also went to overtime shortly after the Rams and Saints concluded their slugfest in the bayou. In fact, this matchup actually created more of a stir in terms of the league's overtime policies as prolific Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn't even touch the football in the extra period with Tom Brady and Patriots marching down the field en route to Super Bowl LIII.

Perhaps it is time for a change, but the rules are the rules…until they aren't anymore.
