The Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott haven't agreed on a contract extension yet, and according to executive vice president and general manager Stephen Jones, the deal needs to be right for the franchise quarterback.

Jones was a guest on both Mad Dog Sports Radio and 105.3 The Fan in Dallas on Monday and was answering a lot of questions about the Cowboys win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday. Along with questions about the victory, there was talk about Prescott's contract extension talks.

105.3 The Fan asked about Pam Oliver's quote saying that Prescott wasn't playing to be the highest-paid quarterback because he hasn't won a Super Bowl. Jones said via Cowboys Wire that he hadn't heard those comments, but he wasn't surprised because Prescott is an ultimate leader.

“No, I didn’t hear that. It doesn’t surprise me, Dak’s response. Man, he’s the ultimate leader. He’s got all the respect in the locker room. No one roots for him more than Jerry and I. Everybody, I know he does, all want to get this contract done, but it’s got to be right for Dak. People are obviously wanting to get it right for him.”

“At the same time, we want to get it right for our team. At the end of the day, we’re just trying to divide up the cap space. That can be difficult when you’ve got as many great, young players as we have. Certainly Dak, he wants what’s best for the team. So does Zeke, so does DeMarcus Lawrence. We got guys who want to win. “

Jones didn't comment if they were close to getting a deal done, but it seems that they want to get the deal done sooner rather than later.
