The Ezekiel Elliott contract saga has ended the way many Dallas Cowboys fans wanted. With the star running back committed to spending all of his prime years with America's Team, they are now eager to make a serious run for a Super Bowl.

The running back has secured a six-year, $90 million contract, making him the highest-paid running back in the league. We're sure that both the front office, the coaching staff, and the players are just happy to get everything out of the way.

The Athletic's Jon Machota revealed what the players were thinking in the aftermath of the extension.

“Guys are just excited to see him,” Cowboys center Travis Frederick said. “It was less about like, ‘Thank God, you’re here’ or ‘Thank God, you got your deal done.’ It was, ‘Man, I missed you. I haven’t seen you in a month.’ It was just weird not having him around.

“These are real relationships that we grow over time. We spend so much time together it really is a family deal. It’s like one of your brothers just shipped off to do a semester abroad and have all of a sudden come back. It’s just a good, reuniting feeling.”

Thanks to Elliott's running, the Cowboys finished at the top of the NFC East with a 10-6 record. They fell short in the divisional round against the Los Angeles Rams, but things are looking up for America's Team.

There may be people who are asking why Elliott did what he did in the preseason. The two-time Pro-Bowler had a confident response.

“Because I believe I’m the best,” Elliott said.
