Former superstar running back Terrell Davis stopped by Undisputed to talk about football. Specifically, he spoke about the Dallas Cowboys. It seems Davis doesn't think they'll be competing for a Super Bowl this season.

Davis makes a simple point. The Cowboys haven't shown up against good teams.

When they started the year 3-0, many were quick to talk about just how good the Cowboys were. However, the competition was bad.

They beat the New York Giants (2-3) when they looked truly hapless with Eli Manning at quarterback. Then they beat the Washington Redskins (0-5) and the Miami Dolphins (0-4). That's some dreadful competition.

The last two weeks it has revved up though. Dallas got the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers. Two teams many consider to be serious threats this year.

The Cowboys lost both games.

Now on a two-game losing streak and holding on to a 3-2 record, the narrative has changed. It this a good team that's just that, good? Are they not great?

Davis seems to believe so. They'll beat the teams they should beat, but asking them to go on the run it would take to win the Super Bowl is out of the question.

Davis also brings up that they haven't been “explosive” every week on offense despite the fact that they have the pieces. Can you trust a team that isn't showing consistency to make a run?

Of course, it's still very early in the season and a lot can change. The Cowboys find themselves right at the top of the NFC East at the moment. A nice stretch of games can flip the narrative back and put them in Super Bowl talks.

However, a bad stretch could turn this into an absolute bust of a season. See how that goes? It's early, anything can happen.
