Before Tony Romo ultimately retired and chose a different career path as a broadcaster, the longtime Dallas Cowboys quarterback actually considered a move that is quite surprising.

Apparently, Romo had his fair share of options once he had parted ways with the Cowboys. The four-time Pro Bowler considered four teams, but he also admits taking a look at the New York Jets, even though he won't say if that team was one of the four he was considering, via Conor Orr of NFL.com.

“I took a look at them, I'm not going to say if they were in the final four, but I did take a look.”

“I went through a lot of teams,” Romo said. “There was a lot of discussion about, you know — I narrowed the focus to about four teams and from there, obviously I made the decision to come to CBS and I felt the opportunity was just too big to pass up getting to work with a Jim Nantz, CBS and this thing. It was too set up perfectly.”

Prior to heading up to the broadcast booth for NFL games with CBS, Romo seemed to be an ideal fit for the Houston Texans. The team had drafted a promising young quarterback in Deshaun Watson, but with the right veteran under center and a healthy defense, the Texans could be a threat in the AFC.

Obviously, Romo didn't take the job nor is it clear if Houston was one of the four teams he mentioned. Although Romo appears content with his new gig, it remains to be seen if he'll stay that way, especially if an intriguing opportunity arises in the same way it did for Jay Cutler who recently signed with the Miami Dolphins.
