After seeking a second opinion for stingers in his neck, Dallas Cowboys Center Travis Frederick has been diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome.

According to the Mayo Clinic website, Guillain-Barre syndrome is a rare disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves. Weakness and tingling in your extremities are usually the first symptoms.

These sensations can quickly spread, eventually paralyzing your whole body. In its most severe form, Guillain-Barre syndrome is a medical emergency. Most people with the condition must be hospitalized to receive treatment.

Frederick said in his statement that he has received two treatments since the diagnosis and felt much better, but he doesn't have a timetable for his return.

According to Ian Rapport of NFL Network, a big reason it's hard to predict when a return will be is that Frederick hasn't announced which form of the disease he has.

If it's a mild form, it might not be long, but if it's a more serious case, it could be a few months before he is ready to return to football.

Frederick has been in the league for five years and hasn't missed a game although that streak is in jeopardy at this point. He signed an extension in 2016 that made him the highest paid center in the league and for good reason because he has been the staple of one of the best offensive lines in the league.

When Frederick will return should become more clear over the next few days when more is known about his diagnosis.
