Legendary Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman has criticized the team’s current QB, Dak Prescott, saying he needs to be accurate with the football.

In a recent radio appearance this week (per Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News), Aikman says he’s seen too many errant throws from the third-year Cowboys QB this season.

“He needs to be more accurate with the football,” Aikman said. “I've said for many, many years, as long as I can ever remember, when I'm asked, ‘Hey, what do you look for first in a quarterback?' The first thing I look for is accuracy, because the rest of it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter how tough you are. It doesn't matter how smart you are or what a great leader you are. None of that stuff matters if you can't put the ball where you have to put it. I've seen too many errant throws in that regard, and then there needs to be a little more anticipation.”

The Cowboys offense has been among the worst in the league thus far this season, in large part due to Dak’s ineffectiveness. They are currently 30th in terms of both points per game and passing yards per game. Meanwhile, Prescott is completing just under 62 percent of his passes, which is 28th among all quarterbacks.

The Cowboys clearly don’t have the very top receiving talent on their roster this season. But still, Prescott has to make the most of what he’s got and hit his receivers more consistently for the Cowboys offense to succeed.
