The Dallas Cowboys are in a bit of a predicament heading into Week 11 of the season with a bit of a hill to climb in order to compete for the NFC East division title currently sitting at a 4-5 record. Cowboys great Troy Aikman made some critical comments about the organization recently, saying they need a “complete overhaul” given their underachievement.

But despite his criticism of the Cowboys, Aikman said during an interview on Tuesday that he believes his former team can win the NFC East this season, according to Jori Epstein of USA TODAY Sports.

“Right now, if I had to pick someone, I’d pick Dallas,” Aikman said Tuesday morning on his weekly Dallas radio appearance with “The Musers” on KTCK-FM 96.7 The Ticket. “The Thanksgiving game (between them) is huge.

“If Dallas can keep it within two games going into Thanksgiving, win that game, I think they’re positioned well.”

The Cowboys are coming off an encouraging road win over the Philadelphia Eagles that saw them play well on both sides of the ball. It was an encouraging outing as their defense made key plays to keep them ahead while star running back Ezekiel Elliott poured in a huge performance with 151 rushing yards and a touchdown to lead the offensive charge.

This put a great amount of importance on how the Cowboys finish out the season that features four straight matchups against teams that are the playoff picture facing the Atlanta Falcons, Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints, and Philadelphia Eagles. It may be this stretch of games that will define how the rest of their season unfolds.

If Dallas hopes to have a chance to get back into the playoffs, it will require third-year quarterback Dak Prescott to step up and lead the team a greater capacity that he has in the past. It is on his shoulders to be the difference maker that the team needs to get over the hump.
