The Dallas Cowboys have yet to come to terms on a long-term deal with quarterback Dak Prescott, which has created a rather messy situation.

The two sides have been talking about a contract extension since last year, and nothing has come of it.

Legendary Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman gave his two cents on the topic on Monday and had some pretty high praise for Prescott:

“I love Dak. I love everything about him,” Aikman said on 105.3 The Fan. “I would pay him. He will get paid.”

Aikman is echoing the thoughts that most Dallas fans have about Prescott, and you would think that the Cowboys organization feels the same way about the young signal-caller.

However, contract talks are moving rather slow. Dallas slapped a franchise tag on Prescott earlier this offseason, and the two parties have until July to agree to a long-term deal.

Prescott is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he threw for 4,902 yards, 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 65.1 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 99.7.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Mississippi State, was originally selected by the Cowboys in the fourth round (135th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He was pressed into starting duty right off the bat due to an injury to Tony Romo, and Prescott immediately impressed, leading Dallas to 13 wins and an NFC East division title en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Prescott made another Pro Bowl in 2018.

Oddly enough, the Sulphur, La. native did not land a trip to the Pro Bowl this past year, although it was clearly the best season of his career thus far.
