Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Tyron Smith is listed day-to-day while nursing an injured ankle, head coach Jason Garrett announced, according to The Athletic's Jon Machota on Twitter.

The 28-year-old Smith has been a fixture on the offensive line for Jerry Jones' team since the Cowboys selected the 6-foot-5, 320-pound tackle out of USC with the ninth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Since his rookie season, Smith has only missed 10 games—appearing in an incredible 122 games, starting in every one including the 2019 season's first four weeks of competition.

Despite Smith's place in the offensive line protecting franchise quarterback Dak Prescott, the left tackle missed three games apiece in the last three seasons. However, now Smith is dealing with a high ankle sprain, which he aggravated in Dallas' Week 4 road loss to the New Orleans Saints, dropping the NFC East franchise to 3-1 on the early season.

It's unclear whether Smith will be available to play next Sunday or not when the Cowboys are back home to face Aaron Rodgers and the equally dangerous 3-1 Green Bay Packers. Smith's absence could absolutely hurt Prescott's ability to find targets in the pocket and star running back Ezekiel Elliott from possessing wiggle room to operate in while rushing from the line of scrimmage.

Smith is a six-time Pro-Bowl tackle along with a six-time All-Pro player who signed an eight-year extension with the franchise prior to the 2014 NFL season. His health is crucial to the stability of the offensive line and therefore the Cowboys offense.
