The Dallas Cowboys have now dropped two straight following a 3-0 start to the 2019 NFL season. Fortunately, it appears some reinforcements are on the way.

Left tackle Tyron Smith has been nursing an ankle sprain he suffered in Week 4. Team owner Jerry Jones is hopeful that he and right tackle La'el Collins will be good to go against the New York Jets in Week 6, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News:

“I’m optimistic,” Jones said. “Tyron is looking promising. We’ll see how this week goes. [La’el] is going to be hard to keep out of there.”

This is certainly an encouraging update for Dallas. Smith's absence has left a rather notable void at arguably the most important position on the offensive line. His return would provide a much-needed boost to their front.

Backup left tackle Cameron Fleming has struggled in Smith's place. Although some drop-off was to be expected, it has had a significant impact on both the passing game and the run game. Fortunately, it appears that could very well change this week against the Jets.

Meanwhile, Collins was sidelined against the Packers with an MCL sprain. Given his current timetable, it is not deemed to be too serious. As a result, the Cowboys could be close to returning to full strength up front.

It is safe to say that quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott will be happy to have their offensive line back intact.

Both players have endured a rough couple of weeks and will be looking to get back on track in New York.
